Cabergoline: What You Need to Know

Hi everyone! Hope you had nice X-mas !

Cabergoline, often referred to simply as Caber, is a frequently discussed compound in bodybuilding circles, but many are still unclear about its uses, benefits, and who should consider using it. Here’s a breakdown of what you need to know.

Cabergoline is a dopamine agonist primarily used to treat hyperprolactinemia, or elevated prolactin levels. Prolactin is a hormone responsible for breast milk production, but when its levels rise in men, it can lead to a range of undesirable side effects. These include reduced libido, erectile dysfunction (ED), gynecomastia (gyno), loss of muscle mass and body hair, and even fertility issues. Elevated prolactin can interfere with the function of the testes, which in turn lowers testosterone production. As bodybuilders, we aim to maximize our testosterone and growth hormone levels, and high prolactin works directly against that goal.

Who Should Consider Using Cabergoline?

So, who is at risk for elevated prolactin? Typically, anyone using compounds that are known to elevate prolactin levels, especially certain anabolic steroids and peptides.

- Trenbolone (Tren) is one of the most well-known culprits. It’s a powerful compound, but it can raise prolactin levels significantly, which is why using Cabergoline alongside Tren is highly recommended.
- Deca-Durabolin (Deca) is another compound that can contribute to "Deca Dick"—a term referring to the sexual dysfunction associated with this steroid. One of the causes of Deca Dick is elevated prolactin, so having Cabergoline on hand during a Deca cycle can help prevent this.
- Peptides like GHRP-6 and CJC-1293/95 are often stacked together to stimulate intense growth hormone release. Prolonged use of these peptides can also increase prolactin levels, making Cabergoline useful in managing these side effects.

It's important to note that prolactin levels can increase gradually over time, and men may not experience side effects immediately. Therefore, it’s smart to preemptively include Cabergoline in your cycle rather than waiting until symptoms appear.

How to Use Cabergoline

Cabergoline has a long half-life (63-69 hours), so it’s generally taken twice a week. Starting at a low dose of 0.25mg twice per week (for a total of 0.50mg per week) is recommended. If side effects persist, you can gradually increase the dose up to 0.75mg per week.

A common misconception about Cabergoline is that it can cause heart valve damage, but this is only a concern with excessive doses, particularly doses as high as 3mg/day. At the recommended dosage of 0.50mg-1mg per week, this risk is negligible.

Cabergoline can be a crucial tool for preventing or mitigating the negative effects of elevated prolactin, especially for those using compounds like Tren, Deca, or certain peptides. As with any supplement or medication, it’s important to monitor your body’s response and adjust dosages accordingly.
