What's up everyone! I know this isn’t the usual gym talk, but I gotta get something off my chest. Lately, I’ve been thinking about how politics is actually messing with our fitness lives, and I feel like it’s a topic we should talk about.
First off, look at the whole sugar tax thing that’s popping up in some countries. I get it—sugary drinks are trash for health, but as someone who’s trying to bulk and keep up those calories, it’s low-key annoying. They’re making it harder to grab a quick high-cal drink without getting hit with a tax. Like, come on! As bodybuilders, we sometimes need those extra calories to put on mass, and now we're getting taxed for it?
And don't even get me started on sports supplements. In some places, it feels like getting your hands on what you need for a good cycle is a freaking mission. Some countries practically treat supplements like illegal substances, while others, you can just walk into a store and grab anything off the shelf. It’s crazy how inconsistent things are. It feels like they’re punishing us for just trying to get swole and stay healthy.
Then there’s the whole issue with healthcare and fitness funding. If governments aren't putting money into health programs, gyms, or wellness initiatives, then what are we left with? We're stuck paying out of pocket for memberships, supplements, and even doctors who don’t know squat about fitness. Meanwhile, they spend billions on other stuff that doesn’t really help us live healthier lives. It just feels like they’re dropping the ball on something that literally impacts everyone—our health.
So yeah, politics and fitness? They go hand in hand, whether we like it or not. The rules, taxes, and restrictions they put in place can seriously impact how we train, what we eat, and how we grow. What do you all think? Do you feel like political decisions are getting in the way of your fitness goals? Or maybe there’s something you’ve seen that actually helped the fitness community?
Let me know what you think, fam.
