Heavy Lifting for Guys Over 50

I'm turning 52 soon and I’m still lifting relatively heavy, though I've had to adjust my training. Lately, I've been reducing the weights I lift because I'm feeling aches and pains in places I didn't even know could hurt, haha. For example, I've dropped my deadlift from 585 lbs to 405 lbs and my bench press from 405 lbs to 315 lbs.
My main question is, when is it time to call it quits with the heavy lifting? At what point should I stop pushing for PRs and start focusing more on lighter weights with higher reps? The mental drive is still there, but my body keeps reminding me to slow down. I feel like I might have answered my own question, but I’d really appreciate hearing from some of you who are in a similar age range or have experience with this. How do you balance lifting heavy with staying injury-free as we age?

Age is just a number, but recovery takes longer. I still lift heavy, but I prioritize joint health—mobility, stretching, and controlled movements.
