I've had the opportunity to run a few Primo cycles, and now I'd like to share some insights based on my experience. Primo can be an incredibly rewarding compound when used correctly, but if you approach it the wrong way, you’ll end up wasting a lot of money. So, here’s what I’ve learned from my cycles, and how to make sure you get the best results possible.
1. Run a Sufficient Dose
One of the biggest mistakes I see is people not running enough Primo. Usually, the "less is more" approach doesn’t apply to this compound. In fact, more is better. This is one of those compounds where you really need to dose it properly to see solid results. I’ve seen people start with 400mg a week and then increase to 600mg toward the end of their cycle. Frankly, that’s not enough.
If you want Primo to really work for you, you need to start at your target dose and stick with it throughout the cycle. A lot of people cut corners to save money, and then wonder why they don’t see the results they expected. If you're only going to run 400mg/week, don't bother with Primo at all.
So, what’s the right dose? Personally, I wouldn’t go below 750mg/week, and ideally, aim for 1g/week if you can afford it. Anything less than 750mg and the results will be underwhelming. I’ve been below 750mg and didn’t see much, but once I hit that 750mg mark, the difference was night and day.
The sweet spot for most seems to be between 750mg and 1g per week. If you can afford the full gram, it’s definitely worth it. But remember, you need to run enough of it to get real results.
2. Run It for Long Enough
The next big mistake people make is not running Primo for long enough. This is a compound that takes time to show its true potential. If you run it for 12 weeks, you’re likely to be disappointed. For maximum results, you should aim for at least 16 weeks. I would recommend 20 weeks if possible, and for those of us on TRT, running it for 24 weeks could be worthwhile, though it gets expensive.
Primo doesn’t really start kicking in until after 7 weeks or so, and the effects just keep getting better the longer you run it. The results after 16-20 weeks are where you’ll truly see the transformation. Anything less than 16 weeks is just a teaser.
3. Keep Your Test Low
Primo is best known for giving you a hard, chiseled, vascular look, so you don’t want to mask all that with excess water retention from higher doses of testosterone. Keep your test dose low — I personally run between 150-250mg/week of Test E. Anything higher, and I need an AI, which isn’t ideal when you're running Primo.
If you're sensitive to bloating, you might even want to skip the testosterone altogether, or at least keep it as low as possible. Remember, the goal here is cutting, not bulking, so you don’t need a massive test dose.
4. Get Your Diet In Check
Diet is crucial, especially if you’re using Primo for cutting. You can’t spend $2,000 on a cycle and expect results if you don’t have your diet dialed in. You should already know your Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE), but if you haven't tracked it through real-world experience yet, now's the time to start. Don’t rely solely on calculators — they can be inaccurate.
I also recommend using tools like fitness trackers to better understand your daily caloric burn. I’ve found that my TDEE can fluctuate by as much as 1,000 calories based on daily activity, so tracking dynamically allows me to adjust my diet accordingly. This has been a game-changer when it comes to fine-tuning my nutrition and optimizing fat loss.
When it comes to protein, Primo thrives on it. Aim for at least 2g per pound of bodyweight — more if you can handle it. Primo’s superior nitrogen retention helps you maintain muscle even in a calorie deficit. I’ve been able to build lean mass while slightly cutting, which is impressive for any compound, especially when paired with high protein intake.
5. Body Fat Matters
Before you run Primo, make sure your body fat isn’t too high. If you're carrying a lot of extra weight, spending $2,000 on a Primo cycle is overkill. It’s best to get your body fat down into the low teens first. Not only will you see better results, but you’ll also need a shorter cycle to achieve the classic Primo look, which is a lean, dry, and vascular physique.
6. Primo Is Not for Beginners
Primo is often described as a "mild" compound with minimal side effects, which is true to an extent. However, Primo requires a lot of injections due to its lower concentration, which can be a real pain, especially for beginners. You’ll need to pin multiple sites, and you need to rotate those sites carefully to avoid abscesses and irritation. For a successful Primo cycle, I recommend having at least 6 injection sites, preferably more.
7. To Stack or Not to Stack?
You don’t necessarily need to stack Primo to get the most out of it. It’s effective on its own, but if you want to enhance the effects, there are a few things I recommend. Oral Primo (150mg/day) can help further define the look of injectable Primo, and it’s a great addition in the final stages of the cycle. Anavar (Var) is also a fantastic companion, especially in the latter weeks of your cycle.
For injectable stacks, I’ve had success with Primo + DHB or Primo + EQ. These work well together without overshadowing Primo’s unique qualities. However, avoid stacking with Mast or Tren — they tend to detract from the Primo look and feel.
Example Cycle:
Here’s a basic Primo cycle to get you started:
• 1-16: 750mg Primo
• 1-16: 250mg Test E (or a dose low enough to avoid the need for an AI)
• 1-16: 50mg Proviron
• 8-16: 50mg Anavar
If you’re using GH, you can add it in, but make sure it doesn’t cause water retention. If it does, drop it toward the end of the cycle to appreciate the true effects of Primo.
If you can find Primo dosed at 150mg/ml or higher, it’ll make your cycle a lot easier. Higher concentrations mean fewer injections per week, which is always a plus. Personally, I’ve never experienced PIP (Post Injection Pain) with high-dose Primo, but always test it out with a small sample first.
What I’ve shared here is based on my personal experiences after several cycles, and it’s the approach I would recommend for anyone serious about running Primo. It’s not a quick fix, but if you give it time and attention, it can deliver exceptional results.
What’s your experience with Primo? Have you tried different dosages or stacked it with other compounds?
