What’s the most ridiculous training advice you’ve ever taken seriously?

What’s the craziest piece of advice you’ve ever actually tried out, only to regret it afterward? You followed through thinking it would work, and then you ended up worse off. Looking back, you realized it was complete nonsense from the start.

Here are my top two worst pieces of advice I ever took to heart

  • "Don’t worry about calories — just eat clean and the gains will come."
I was told to focus purely on eating “clean” foods — no processed anything. I neglected my calorie intake and ended up in a huge deficit, which made me lose more muscle than I ever imagined. Clean food is great, but if you’re not in a surplus, you’re not building anything.
  • "Stretching is overrated, just lift heavy and you'll be fine."
I ignored stretching because I thought it was a waste of time. Ended up with tight hips and a lower back injury that kept me out of the gym for weeks. Stretching is essential for mobility and injury prevention.
  • "Carbs will make you fat, especially during a cycle."
I cut carbs almost completely, thinking it was the “secret” to staying lean while on gear. My energy tanked, workouts suffered, and I felt weak and sluggish. Turns out carbs are essential for fueling intense training and muscle recovery.

Nice thread! Mine was: Liver support supplements are a waste of time during a cycle. Just let your liver heal during the off-season.
Bro that liver support one is classic. I remember some dude telling me “TUDCA is a scam” while he was running 3 orals at once 💀. Ended up in the ER with jaundice. Some people really learn the hard way.
